Destiny 2’s spooky season, Festival of the Lost, officially begins next week on October 17. Like previous years, this will be a celebration of all things Halloween, but with a Destiny 2 twist that revolves around exploring Haunted Sectors, battling the themed monsters within, collecting Spectral Pages and earning some gear for all your efforts.
There will be some changes this year as part of an effort to make Festival of the Lost more rewarding, starting with the overall challenge of the event being increased. Bungie explained that Legend Haunted Sectors. Like Legend Lost Sectors, these zones will be filled with more challenging monsters and you’ll need to be properly equipped to take on the ghoulish enemies inside of them.
The second big change is that players can earn Eerie Engrams from Haunted Sectors during the event, which can either be opened up for instant rewards or “hocus-focused” into a specific Exotic armor piece. Eva will offer players opportunities to acquire Exotic armor with four focusing categories in addition to the Legendary Weapons Eerie Engram focusing, but you will need to own the relevant expansion that the specific Exotic armor is tied to.
You will not need to have acquired the Exotic armor previously for it to be eligible to drop from Hocus Focusing, which gives players a great opportunity to acquire Exotic gear that they’re still missing. Usually, you’d need to grind your way–and without a fireteam–through Legend Lost Sectors to add a random Exotic that you don’t already have, but this process will essentially take the randomness out of completing your collection.
Focusing costs are 2,500 candy and an Eerie Engram per Exotic and 1,000 candy and an Eerie Engram for a specific Festival of the Lost weapon. If you’d prefer to roll the dice on a random weapon–this year offers familiar favorites like the Acosmic grenade launcher, Horror Story auto rifle, Jurassic Green pulse rifle, and Mechabre sniper rifle–you can spend 500 candy and an Eerie Engram for a quick pull.
Players will only receive Exotic armor for the class that they are currently playing while interacting with Hocus Focusing, and you’ll be able to add the following Exotics to your armory:
