Baldur's Gate 3 Is Out Now On PS5 With Cross-Saves, DualSense Controller Features

Following its massive debut on PC, Larian’s celebrated RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 has arrived on PlayStation 5 for everyone. The game has been available on PS5 for days, actually, but only for people who bought the game’s more expensive edition.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has cross-save support, so players can move between PS5 and PC with their saves intact. Players need a Larian account for this, but PS Plus is not required for cross-saves.

Now Playing: Baldur's Gate 3 Launch Trailer

Baldur’s Gate 3 on console obviously requires a controller, and Larian says it’s made an effort to make sure the game can be enjoyed with a controller and “just a few buttons and triggers.”

“We took its interface and streamlined it, turning our original UI into radial menus which felt more intuitive to use with a controller. Your most essential tools can be accessed at the pull of a trigger button, which brings up a large radial for access to your map, journal, spellbook, character sheet, combat log, alchemy, short rests, long rests, and your camp, as well as your level-up screen and Illithid Powers skill tree,” Larian said in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

The DualSense’s light bar will match the color of your magic spells, and the brightness will become more intense during pressure-packed scenarios. Additionally, the controller’s haptic elements will sync up with the action on screen to help players “feel” the action more.

The full Baldur’s Gate 3 launch on PS5 today, September 6, includes improvements from hotfix #5 that addressed PS5-specific issues and lots more. See the full Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes here. Looking ahead, Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch for Mac later this September and then Xbox Series X|S later this year. Split-screen support will be available on Series X, but not Series S–at least not at launch. There will be cross-save support between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
