Baldur's Gate 3 – How To Respec And Change Classes

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a dozen classes for you to try out. Each one offers unique capabilities in combat, as well as some functions when you’re exploring. However, you don’t need to get stuck with your choice at the start of the game. Our guide discusses how you can respec and change classes in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Respec and Change Class in Baldur’s Gate 3

To respec and change your class in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to meet with Withers, the undead skeletal figure in the Dank Crypt. The location can be visited early on during the game’s first act. Once your character wakes up on the beach, you’ll find a large set of double doors next to the Overgrown Ruins waypoint. You can either lockpick that, or head to the top of the cliffs to reach the alternate entrance (but watch out for the bandits).

Once inside, beware of traps and more enemies. Then, once you’ve discovered the ornate sarcophagus, open it to make Withers appear. He’ll ask you a question and, after your response, he’ll head to your Camp. Once there, select a character who needs to respec and talk to Withers. You need 100 gold to make use of this function.

Additional Tips When You Respec or Change Class

The Baldur’s Gate 3 respec and change class mechanic can be used by your main character, as well as all companions. For instance, maybe you want Gale to be a Barbarian instead of a Wizard. Meanwhile, Lae’zel and Karlach could turn into a Paladin and Sorcerer, respectively.

This can also be helpful once you’ve recruited characters like Halsin and Jaheira. Since both of them are Druids, you probably want one of them to switch to a different class.

Moreover, this mechanic complements the multiclass feature. With it, you can add levels to another class, obtaining its spells or actions for that particular rank. And, last but not least, Withers himself is also the same NPC that you can talk to if you want to get Hirelings.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled to the brim with activities and secrets. You’ll no doubt be part of an adventure that can take countless hours to complete. For other tips, you can visit our BG3 guides hub.
