Ubisoft has announced that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage will include a mode called History of Baghdad. This, as Ubisoft says, is an effort to bring “players closer to history.” The mode will be available for free when the game launches this fall.
History of Baghdad offers historically accurate articles that players can read after discovering specific sites throughout the game, serving as a reward for exploration. These articles cover five topics including economy, belief and daily life, government, art and science, and court life.

Now Playing: Assassin's Creed Mirage: Story Trailer | Ubisoft Forward
The Assassin’s Creed games are known for their educational features, such as the Discovery Tour featured in Origins. This mode strips away all combat and gameplay, allowing players to focus on learning about ancient Egypt, instead. In earlier entries, players could read entries in a database, rather than exploring via a separate mode. It seems Ubisoft is taking a similar approach with Mirage.
Players can expect to read about many topics, from Baghdadi exports, to bazaars, and even camels as part of the History of Baghdad mode.
The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be a return to the gameplay style of the earlier games. Instead of featuring a massive open world and RPG elements, Mirage will be much more linear and will double down on stealth and parkour.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 12, 2023.
