Blizzard has announced Overwatch 2: Invasion, and it adds new story missions that cost $15. Invasion launches on August 10.
Overwatch 2: Invasion adds three missions that are set in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. They take place on “massive maps with complex objectives,” Blizzard said in its announcement, adding that the storyline will be “in-depth.” There are new enemy types to take on, including the Artillery and the Stalkers.

The missions are available through the Overwatch 2: Invasion bundle, which costs $15. In addition to permanent access to the missions, the bundle includes 1,000 Overwatch coins, a new Sojourn legendary skin, and permanent access to Sojourn as a playable hero for new players.
Blizzard is also selling an Overwatch 2: Ultimate Invasion bundle for $40. It includes everything mentioned above as well as the Null Sector premium battle pass with 20 skips, an additional 1,000 Overwatch coins, and two additional legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko.
In May, Blizzard announced that Overwatch 2’s big planned PvE Hero mode was being scrapped. The announcement that these new story missions are being locked behind a paywall is rubbing some people the wrong way.
In addition to the story missions, Overwatch 2: Invasion introduces a co-op event on King’s Row featuring new objectives and enemies. Additionally, Blizzard is launching a new PvP game mode called Flashpoint with the update. Players will fight to control key points on a map–flashpoints–before their opponents do. This mode features the biggest PvP maps to date.
Lastly, Overwatch 2: Invasion is adding a Hero Mastery mode to serves as a tutorial of sorts to help players advance their skills. Players can choose a hero from a “select” group to begin (more to come in future seasons) and take them out on a training course to learn more skills. The Overwatch 2 practice range, meanwhile, is getting its first big update with the addition of a new firing range and “dozens” of practice settings.
Overwatch 2: Invasion will be shown off during a livestream event on June 21, so keep checking back for more.
