Former Lego Devs Reveals Funko Mash-Up Game With Jurassic World, Back To The Future, And More

A new trailer for Funko Fusion has arrived, showing off the multiplayer mashup featuring characters from a number of popular Universal franchises like Jurassic World, Back to the Future, The Thing, and Masters of the Universe.

This is the first game from 10:10 Games, a team founded in 2021 by people who formerly worked at Lego series developer TT Games. Check out the trailer below.

Funko Fusion will have “dozens” of playable characters, presented in Funko Pop form, based on NBC Universal stories and franchises. Each character has its own set of special abilities and personality, Funko said in a press release. The game also supports online multiplayer where up to four people can work together to solve puzzles and battle. Funko Fusion is set for the release in 2024 on PC and console.

Funko boss Dolly Ahluwalia said in a news release that Funko Fusion will have its “initial release” in early 2024, and that wording suggests the game may use a live-service model with further updates to come post-launch.

10:10 Games was founded in 2021. The studio is led by Jon Burton, the former TT Games boss accused of berating employees. Six former employees said Burton “would often yell at staff to return to their desks if they tried to leave work on time,” Polygon reported. Burton left TT Games in 2019.

Funko continues to be a massively popular brand, but this is the first time it’s making a video game featuring some of the character it makes toys of. Given that Funko works with so many different brands–from the Boston Bruins to Overwatch and even Dolly Parton–it sounds like a licensing headache to put so many different characters in one game. But that’s not what Funko Fusion is doing, as it’s focusing mainly on brands from NBCUniversal, at least for now, it seems.
