Quantum Break Temporarily Removed From Xbox Game Pass, But It's Coming Back

Before Remedy arrived back on the scene with the supernatural thriller Control, the studio teamed up with Microsoft to release an ambitious TV/game crossover titled Quantum Break in 2016.

The game is being removed from Game Pass temporarily to address a licensing issue, and it will return at some point. Xbox boss Aaron Greenberg confirmed this after Quantum Break was listed as “leaving soon” alongside other titles on the Game Pass app. Remedy itself commented on the issue, saying the temporary removal was due to “some licenses that expired that were in the process of being renewed.”

Now Playing: Quantum Break – Review

Xbox published a blog post today that listed the games leaving Game Pass on April 15, and Quantum Break was not mentioned. Every other game shown in the “leaving Game Pass” page earlier this week is confirmed to be leaving the service, including The Riftbreaker, Moonglow Bay, Rainbow Six Extraction, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, Life is Strange: True Colors, and The Long Dark. That same blog post listed Iron Brigade, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Minecraft Legends as upcoming additions to Game Pass, among others.

German-language outlet Xbox Dynasty reported that Microsoft told the outlet that the removal is due to licensing issues, but it’s unclear what the nature of those issues are. It’s worth noting that Quantum Break would not be the first Xbox exclusive to be removed from Game Pass, as several previous Forza titles have been pulled due to music licensing deals expiring.
