Metroid Prime Remastered Coming To Nintendo Switch Today

Nintendo has finally revealed a remaster of the original Metroid Prime during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, and it releases today for $40.

The game originally launched in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube, but it has not been re-released since the Metroid Prime Trilogy bundle for Nintendo Wii in 2009. This new version of Metroid Prime adds dual-stick controls, which allow you to move and look at the same time.

Now Playing: Metroid Prime Remastered – Out now! (Nintendo Switch)

The announcement–and subsequent shadow drop–comes as Metroid Prime 4, which was originally announced at E3 2017, still has not seen a full in-game reveal since that initial teaser. Nintendo did report in 2019 that development on the game was restarting, and during the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct, it mentioned that development was still progressing before revealing Metroid Dread.

The digital version of Metroid Prime Remastered launches today on Nintendo Switch. A physical version releases February 22.
