Now Playing: COD Vanguard & Warzone – Season Four 'Mercenaries of Fortune' Launch Trailer
What to expect from Season 4
Call of Duty’s “Reloaded” updates generally bring additional weapon balancing and bug fixes to the game, but players can also expect plenty of new content in Season 4 Reloaded. The mid-season update is set to bring some exciting changes to Warzone, but Vanguard is going to be light on content.
New weapon and operator
The mid-season update for Mercenaries of Fortune will bring one final weapon and operator to the season. The Vargo-S is described as an assault rifle with a high fire rate, which will be available for free with an unlock challenge or can be purchased with a cosmetic bundle.
Completing Captain Butcher’s latest trio of operators, Ikenna Olowewill be introduced as the remaining member of Special Operations Task Force 009: Immortal. The operator can be unlocked by purchasing their bundle from the in-game shop.
A Terminator crossover
Season 4 Reloaded will include two limited-time Terminator cosmetic bundles which will be available to purchase and use in both Vanguard and Warzone. One bundle will include the iconic T-800 Terminator skin, while the other will have the T-1000 model. Both skins are modeled after their movie counterparts from the 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Warzone
New zombie event for Fortune’s Keep
In addition to Skynet’s Terminators, zombies are also invading the battle royale. Season 4 Reloaded includes the new “Cursed Ground” public event on Fortune’s Keep map. The event actually went live ahead of the big update, so players can jump in now to complete the find “cursed chests” hidden around the island. These special chests contain power-ups and high-quality items, but can only be unlocked by completing a zombie-killing event.
New Zombie mode for Rebirth Island
Arriving with the launch of Season 4 Reloaded, players can expect the limited-time “Rebirth of the Dead” mode for Rebirth Island. Activision describes Rebirth of the Dead as a re-imagining of Warzone’s past Zombie Royale mode. Matches will feature 10 quads on Rebirth Island, and just like in Zombie Royale, eliminated players will return as zombies. The last team standing wins.
Titanium Trials: Endurance mode
Arriving to Caldera on August 11, Titanium Trials: Endurance will put a Terminator-style spin on Warzone’s Iron Trials mode. Activision says the mode is designed to “simulate the toughness of a Terminator model,” and the maximum base armor threshold will be increased to 300 hit points. Each player will start with a Self-Revive, and core health regeneration takes longer to restore, as Titanium Trials: Endurance is meant to be a high time-to-kill game mode requiring a high skill level. The mode will only be available for two weeks.
New movement features for Caldera, Zombies camos are coming
Season 4 Reloaded will add new movement features to Caldera. The Portable Redeploy Balloon is being added as a new field upgrade, which can be found as loot or received as a Contract reward. These will allow players to redeploy into the sky much like the stationary Redeploy Balloons on the map, but now players can haul one around and deploy it anywhere. Additionally, Caldera’s Armored SUVs will have a Nitro Boost option to get around the map faster.
Vanguard’s Zombies camos are finally coming to Warzone in Season 4 Reloaded. Anyone who completed the challenges to unlock the camos will be able to equip them for use on all Warzone maps.
Vanguard
Unfortunately, content continues to remain scarce for Vanguard players in Season 4: Mercenaries of Fortune. The Reloaded update will only add the new Desolation multiplayer map, which is described as a medium-sized map set in a labyrinthine village cut directly into a mountainside.
Activision didn’t announce any updates for Vanguard’s Zombies mode. Of course, Season 4 launched the Shi-No-Numa round-based map, which was packed with side Easter eggs and a satisfying main storyline quest, so it’s uncertain if any more updates will arrive before Season 5.
