Dwayne Johnson Wants Hobbs & Shaw 2 To Be The "Antithesis" of Fast & Furious

Actor Dwayne Johnson has revealed in a new interview that he has pitched a Hobbs & Shaw sequel that will be the “antithesis of what Fast and Furious movies generally are.” Johnson’s comments in an interview to SiriusXM (and transcribed by Collider) have less to do with his now rear-view feud with star Vin Diesel, and are more about a desire to break away from the several sequels associated with Fast films.

“When it comes to Hobbs & Shaw… there’s an idea that I had,” said Johnson. “I pitched it [to the creative team and Universal Studios], and they all loved it… without giving it away, you watch a man walk off into the sunset.”

Johnson didn’t go into plot details, but said with the Hobbs franchise there’s an “opportunity” to “go against the grain and disrupt things a little bit.” Johnson then further doubled down on the idea’s potential, expecting fans will thank them for executing it in this manner.

Elsewhere in the interview, Johnson said he now prioritizes projects based on whether they have what he describes as “the Moses effect,” or the potential “to push all other projects to the side.” For those keeping score at home, Johnson said that Red Notice, Black Adam, and Jungle Cruise all had the Moses effect.

This year’s DC FanDome kicked off with an epic first-look at the Black Adam movie, which is due to arrive in theaters on July 29, 2022–and it’s hard to argue against Johnson’s theory based on that clip.
