Sonic The Hedgehog Is Getting His Own Card Game

Sonic the Hedgehog will soon–and likely at high speed–make the transition to paper when Sonic: The Card Game releases. Steamforged Games is producing the card game, and it looks like it will attempt to recreate the game’s coin-collecting action.

Announced as part of a 2021 upcoming releases blog post on the Steamforged website, Sonic: The Card Game’s specifics are mostly being kept secret for now.

“Sonic’s the name, and speed is the game–literally! Join the beloved blue blur in a competitive card racing game where you’ll collect power-ups and rings to win,” the post said.

That could mean there is a timer element as part of the game, but we’ll have to wait and see when Steamforged provides more information. It’s no stranger to video game adaptations, as it’s also producing a Pac-Man card game and expansions for Horizon: Zero Dawn – The Board Game right now. Past games include Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry: The Bloody Palace, and both a card game and board game for Dark Souls.
