Season 2 of CW series Stargirl is due sometime this summer, and as the time draws nearer the show is starting to come increasingly into focus, thanks to reveals like the first image of Eclipso from the upcoming season. DC shared the image of the villain, as portrayed by Nick E. Tarabay (The Expanse), on Twitter–clad in full costume. Check it out below.
Season 1 wrapped last year, and largely what we’ve known to expect from Season 2 is that a couple major villains are coming back into the show’s CW-imagined world. Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Stargirl, aka Courtney Whitmore, a teenager who comes into the possession of the Cosmic Staff, a powerful weapon that can only be handled by members of the Starman legacy of superheroes. The cast also includes Community’s Joel McHale as Starman, plus Luke Wilson (Legally Blonde), Neil Jackson (Sleepy Hollow), and Amy Smart (Felicity).
During a 2020 DC FanDome panel, Stargirl executive producer Geoff Johns said he’s “excited for people to see more Grundy,” for example. It was also indicated that Eclipso’s reveal at the end of Season 1 will prove very important to Season 2. In the comics, Eclipso is a magical being that is the manifestation of God’s wrath, so get ready for some rocky times ahead in the next season.
Before Season 2, Stargirl benefited from a unique broadcast model, airing concurrently on DC Universe and The CW. However, after its Season 2 renewal, Stargirl will air exclusively on The CW.
