The nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards were announced this morning as part of a livestream hosted by Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The nominees for all 23 categories were announced during the event, and you can see the full rundown below. The Best Picture nominees this year included The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal, and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
The Best Actress in a Leading Role nominees included Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman), Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Andra Day (The United States Vs. Billie Holliday), Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman), and Frances McDormand (Nomadland).
The Best Actor in a Leading Role nominees went to Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Gary Oldman (Mank), and Steven Yeun (Minari). Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in August 2020, was nominated for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

The awards show itself takes place on Sunday, April 25. This is much later than usual due in part to the impact of the global pandemic.
