Xenoblade's Pyra And Mythra Are The Next Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighters

Nintendo kicked off its long-awaited February Nintendo Direct by revealing the next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it’s Pyra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Just as in Monolith Soft’s RPG, she’s able to switch between her other form, Mythra, during battle, and they each have some unique attacks.

Like other DLC characters, Pyra and Mythra will arrive alongside a brand-new stage. This one is set on the back of Azurda, the titan that Rex affectionately calls Gramps. Other characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 such as Tora, Nia, Morag, and Zeke can also be spotted in the background of the stage.

Now Playing: Pyra and Mythra Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Reveal | Nintendo Direct

Pyra and Mythra are joined by Rex for their Final Smash, and the move differs depending on which form is active. Pyra unleashes Burning Sword, while Mythra launches Sacred Arrow.

Nintendo hasn’t announced a release date for Pyra/Mythra, but the fighters are slated to join the Smash Bros. Ultimate roster sometime in March. The pair are included as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 or can be purchased individually. Previous Challenger Packs ran for $6 USD, which will presumably be the same price for Pyra and Mythra.

The February Direct was packed with other announcements. Nintendo revealed some big Switch exclusives during the broadcast, including an HD remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, a brand-new Mario Golf game, and Splatoon 3. You can catch up on all the biggest news from the Nintendo Direct in our roundup.
