Guilty Gear Strive Open Beta Goes Live On PS4, PS5 This Week

The open beta for Arc System Works’ highly anticipated Guilty Gear Strive goes live on February 18 for everyone on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The studio shared details on how to get into the 2D fighter’s open beta, when it’ll start and end, and what players can expect.

In addition to outlining the game’s open beta details, Arc System Works released a starter guide for Guilty Gear Strive’s newest character, the vampiric samurai Nagoriyuki. The video, below, breaks down Nagoriyuki’s moveset and how to best use his kit during fights.

Guilty Gear Strive’s Open Beta Start Time

Guilty Gear Strive’s open beta will be available for everyone on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 starting on Thursday, February 18 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET. Those who preorder the game on either PlayStation console will get in a full-day early, meaning those people will have five days to play the upcoming fighter. The open beta wraps up for everyone on Sunday, February 21.

How To Get Into Guilty Gear Strive’s Open Beta

Players only have to download Guilty Gear Strive’s open beta from the PlayStation Store once it goes live on February 18 to get access. Those who preordered the digital version of the game’s Standard, Deluxe, or Ultimate editions will get access on Wednesday, February 17.

Guilty Gear Strive’s Available Content During Open Beta

Guilty Gear Strive’s open beta will feature 13 playable characters in total, including franchise regulars like Sol Badguy and series newcomer Nagoriyuki. Unfortunately, Anji Mito and the 15th unannounced character won’t be playable during Guilty Gear Strive’s open beta period.

Players can expect a variety of modes to be available during Guilty Gear Strive’s open beta, such as Training, Versus, and Tutorial. Network mode will also be available, letting players battle against each other online. Online matches use rollback netcode, a computing method that takes into account the delay between players to make online connections smoother.

Guilty Gear Strive is slated to launch on April 9 for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Those who preorder the Deluxe or Ultimate editions will get access to the full game on April 6.
