Capcom’s free Monster Hunter Rise Switch demo is being removed from the Nintendo eShop very soon. The demo will be available to download until 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET on February 1, making this your last chance to grab it. You also have until then to play the demo online with others, although you will be able to continue playing it solo until your play count limit runs out.
The demo encompasses four quests: two training missions that explain the game’s controls and mechanics, and two proper hunts. The “beginner” hunt asks you to slay the Great Izuchi, one of the new monsters debuting in Rise, while the “intermediate” hunt sends you off to slay the returning Mizutsune. The demo also lets you sample the Wirebug and the Palamute, which we thought were game-changing additions to the series.

The demo supports both local and online play with up to three other players. To take advantage of the latter feature, you’ll need to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. If you don’t have one of those, however, Nintendo is currently offering a free seven-day trial to the service for a limited time.
Although your progress from the demo will not carry over to the full game, everyone who has demo save data on their system will unlock a free item booster pack in Monster Hunter Rise when it launches. The pack includes a handful of items that will help you out in the early going of the adventure. You’ll receive the following:

Monster Hunter Rise launches on Nintendo Switch on March 26. The title is releasing alongside three new Amiibo figures, which will unlock special layered armor sets based on the game’s flagship monster, the Magnamalo.
