Avengers: Endgame nearly featured an end-credits stinger involving Paul Bettany’s character, Vision. Bettany said in an interview that he was excited to film the scene, but Marvel boss Kevin Feige ultimate decided it needed to be cut.
“At one point there was going to be a tag where [Wanda opens] a body bag and there was the Vision,” Bettany told IMDB (via Collider). “Kevin Feige kind of talked to me and said, ‘I gotta pull the shot.’ And I was like, ‘Ahhh.’ Because I really wanted that profit participation.”
Vision is believed to have perished during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Bettany said in the interview that he also believed Vision was dead for good, only holding clinging to about a 10-15% chance that his character would be back.
Despite his death, the character has now returned in a new Disney+ show, WandaVision. However, WandaVision’s first few episodes do not explain how it is possible that Vision remains alive. For what it’s worth, Endgame had no post-credits scene.
