"No Current Plans" For Elden Ring 2 Or More DLC, But From Software Isn't Ruling It Out

Elden Ring 2, or a second DLC expansion for the original Elden Ring, are not currently in the works, according to From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Speaking with IGN, Miyazaki, who served as game director for Elden Ring, said he doesn’t want the game’s upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC to be “the end of the Elden Ring saga.” However, for now, there are no plans for a sequel or more DLC.

Now Playing: ELDEN RING: Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC | Official Gameplay Reveal Trailer

“I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3,” Miyazaki said. “We didn’t want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time. It’s a similar story with Elden Ring. We don’t want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future.

“We don’t have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility,” he continued. “We think that there could well be something [in] the future.”

It would certainly be surprising if Elden Ring never received a proper sequel given its success. It is still From Software’s biggest release-to-date, receiving rave reviews and selling more than 20 million copies within a year of its 2022 release.

Nearly two years after release, Elden Ring’s first (and maybe only) DLC just received its first gameplay trailer. Shadow of the Erdtree will introduce a whole new area, the Land of Shadow, for players to explore as they follow in the footsteps of the mysterious Miquella and conquer challenging new foes. Shadow of the Erdtree is slated to release on June 21. Be sure to check out our Shadow of the Erdtree trailer breakdown for everything we learned.

Meanwhile, fans of an earlier From Software RPG, the PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne, are still hoping for a future remake or remaster, something Miyazaki said could benefit from new hardware.
