The Game Awards 2023: How To Watch, Start Times, And What To Expect

The end of the year is fast-approaching, and in the video game world, that means all eyes turn to The Game Awards, the annual end-of-year celebration that mixes honors for Game of the Year with trailers and reveals for potential future GOTY award winners. This year’s event is scheduled to air on December 7 live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. Nominees for each award were announced earlier this month, and The Game Awards and Keighley himself will be teasing what’s to come at this year’s event via their social media accounts.

The Game Awards 2023 Start Time

The official livestream for The Game Awards 2023 begins with a 30-minute pre-show at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET, followed by the main show at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. Award winners will be announced from over 30 categories across general gaming and esports, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, and a new award for Best Adaptation of a video game IP into another form of media.

The Game Awards broadcast is expected to run for two-and-a-half to three hours, according to a now-private interview on YouTube with Keighley.

The Game Awards will be streaming live on its official YouTube and Twitch channels, along with direct feeds on social media sites like Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter, as well as right here on GameSpot in the video above or our YouTube channel.

Multiple notable names from across gaming and entertainment have been confirmed to appear at the show, with the majority of them tapped to present the awards. So far, the official social media accounts for The Game Awards and Keighley himself have confirmed the following people:

What to expect at The Game Awards 2023

This year’s version of The Game Awards will feature the same mixture of award presentations and game-related announcements as previous years. However, unlike recent years, teases for said game-related announcements have been surprisingly sparse from both the show’s official sources and the game companies themselves.
