Killzone: Liberation is now available for free on PS4 and PS5 for players who redeemed the PSP version as compensation for the PSN outage in 2011. The PS4 and PS5 versions are also available to purchase on the PlayStation Store.
The infamous PSN hack caused the PSN to go down for around three weeks, while also exposing users’ personal information. Once the service was back up and running, Sony offered players a handful of PS3 and PSP games as compensation for the outage–one of which was Killzone: Liberation for PSP. Other titles included Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Dead Nation, and Super Stardust HD, among others.

Now Playing: Killzone: Liberation Interview 1
Thankfully, you don’t need to have redeemed it back in 2011 to enjoy this game on PS4 and PS5, as it’s available to purchase for only $10 from the PlayStation Store.
Killzone: Liberation launched for the PSP in 2006 and was developed by Guerilla Games. It earned positive reviews upon release, with critics praising its shooting gameplay and co-op elements. It serves as a sequel to the original Killzone game, which launched for PS2 in 2004.
The most recent entry in the series, Killzone: Shadowfall, launched for the PS4 in 2013. Since then, the series has been dormant as Guerilla shifted focus to the acclaimed Horizon series.
