Just when Grand Theft Auto V sales seemed to be petering out, Take-Two Interactive has announced the game has surpassed 175 million units sold. That means roughly 5 million copies of the Rockstar title were shipped in the publisher’s latest quarter (October-December).
That’s a dramatic increase from Take-Two’s previous quarter, when it appeared everyone finally owned GTA V. The game shipped fewer than 1 million copies for the publisher between July to September. That made it the worst quarter ever for the blockbuster title.

Keep in mind GTA V originally released almost a decade ago in September 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The following year the Rockstar game arrived on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC launch hitting in early 2015. Almost a year ago the title came to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
GTA V wasn’t the only game to pass a major sales milestone for Take-Two either. The publisher revealed in its earnings report that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold 50 million copies. The open-world title originally came out in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, with PC and Stadia versions launching in 2019.
Both games were listed as Steam Deck’s most popular games in November 2022. That shows the longevity for the Rockstar-developed titles.
