Like other destinations introduced by past expansions, the Pale Heart of the Traveler added to Destiny 2 in The Final Shape is full of collectible items that expand on the story. These are Visions of the Traveler, a bunch of little Travelers that are hidden around the Pale Heart and that you can pick up to trigger new dialogue from various characters. The Visions also earn you a Triumph, and some other reward we’re not quite sure about yet (but we’ll update this when we do). They’re also tied to a new seasonal challenge, Pale Heart Traveler, which asks you to “collect and place Traveler collectibles in the Pale Heart”–you’ll need to grab four of these to complete that objective and net a bunch of XP.
You can’t start picking up Visions of the Traveler until you’ve completed The Final Shape’s story campaign and begun exploring the destination in its entirety. Once you’ve fully unlocked the Lost City’s Tower location in the Pale Heart, you’ll find the room at the south side where you can store the Visions. Each of the columns here will provide you with clues as to where to find the Visions of the Traveler in each of the areas of the Pale Heart, as well.
Here’s a complete rundown of where to find every Vision of the Traveler in the Pale Heart.

Vision 1 – The Landing
This one’s pretty simple. Start at The Landing’s transmat zone and immediately turn left to head toward the edge of the area. Ahead and to your right should be an elaborate scaffold and sitting area; to your left, lower down, is a small pool of water, hugging the edge of the building. Drop down into the pool and you’ll find the Vision.
Vision 2 – The Blooming
You need to look up to find this Vision. It’s nestled in the branches of a tree at the east side of The Blooming. Use the transmat zone in the area and then head toward the easternmost path that leads out, toward The Seclusion. When you start to see the orange crystal marking the path out, look up into the dead trees above you to spot the Vision. It’s a bit of a climb to reach, but you can use the rocks of the nearby cliff wall to get you started.
Vision 3 – The Impasse
Start at the transmat zone for the Impasse and you’re already almost to this Vision of the Traveler, which is hiding among Pyramid buildings in a ring. You can actually see it from where you start–the Pyramid buildings the clue mentions are just ahead of you, at the north end of the area. The specific spot you’re headed is to the left of the obvious buildings ahead, where you can see a sculpture with a ring at the top. The Vision is right in the middle, so obvious that it’s easy to miss.
Vision 4 – The Lost City
Use the transmat zone in the Tower of the Lost City and then head down to Micah-10 and leave the Tower through the door on the side of that room. You’ll drop down into the portion of the Lost City you passed through at the very beginning of the campaign. You can jump across to the rooftops here, which are color-coded to represent multiple different paths through the area.
One to right side if your back is to where you first stepped into the area is colored blue, to the left of that is a red one, and on the far left is a yellow one. The red path is the one you want.
Jump across the rooftops until you reach their end along the red path. Before very long, you’ll reach the end of the rooftops, with nowhere else to go. Facing east, you should see a small pool of water across the gap with a waterfall. Jump to it and you’ll find the Vision hanging out, just behind some rocks.
Vision 5 – The Refraction
From The Landing’s transmat zone, travel onward into The Refraction. This one can be tough to spot; the description of the clue notes that it’s near a creek and along a cliffside path. Head to the crystalline caves and look down over the edge, and you should see an opening in the cliff where the aforementioned creek is spilling out. It’s easier to spot from across the gap.
Jump down the roots beneath you and slip into the gap to reach the pool where the Vision resides.
Vision 6 – The Seclusion
Now we have a tricky one. To get the Vision in the Seclusion, you need to complete some of Micah-10’s missions to find lost Ghosts. Specifically, you need to advance those quests to unlock the Searing Light Cyst icon in The Seclusion on your map. Complete Alone in the Dark and use search areas to find lost Ghosts until you get sent to Searing Light.
Make your way from The Blooming to The Seclusion, to Zavala’s Homestead. Turn left as you enter the area and you’ll see a creek that’s been created from a waterfall. You can pass behind the waterfall, where you’ll find a forcefield locked with Hive runes. This is the entrance into the Cyst area, and you can open the lock by shooting the runes around the cave in the order they appear on the forcefield.
As you head down into the Cyst, you’ll see a large cavern ahead of you and a gnarled tree just beside you. Instead of passing into the large cavern and the fight that waits inside, go around the column to your right, so you end up pulling a 180 and facing back in the direction you just came from. You’ll find a shadowy opening in the rocks here that will lead you to the Vision’s little hiding place.
Vision 7 – The Divide
It’s time to climb that big frozen mountain once again. From The Seclusion or The Impasse, head into The Divide. When you get out onto the mountain itself, just head up until you reach the summit. The clue for this Vision notes that it’s hiding behind a satellite dish, and as you reach the very top area of the mountain and the buildings there, you’ll see the satellite dish on the left side of the structure. Jump up and behind it to find the Vision nestled tightly into this spot.
Vision 8 – The Transgression
The final Vision can be a bit tough to find because it’s in the stormy area in The Transgression, where vision is minimal. The clue notes that the Vision is hiding beneath a dead tree, so you’re looking for an out-of-the-way spot behind one. Head to The Transgression from The Impasse transmat zone and just keep heading east. You’ll need to go pretty deep into this area, passing through three different sections of stormy areas and the buildings that separate them.
Keep an eye out for a dead tree on the left side of the area as you enter one of the further storms. When you see Pyramid columns ahead, you’re in the right place. The tree is obscured by the dust but pretty big.
Check behind the tree to find the last Vision of the Traveler.
Where To Place The Visions
The (almost) last step of this whole process is to place your Visions of the Traveler back in the Tower in the Lost City. Return to that transmat zone, turn left, and head under the platform with the stairs to find a doorway that leads into another room. If you played the original Destiny, you’ll recognize this as the chamber belonging to the Speaker of the Traveler. Each Vision goes on a pedestal in this room, and when you’ve placed them all, a golden chest will appear in the center.
To open that chest is another pretty involved process. You need some 17 Motes of Light, eight of which you’ll have just earned by gathering each Vision of the Traveler. The other nine Motes drop from defeating the bosses of the Pale Heart’s Overthrow activity. Overthrow takes place in each of the three major locations in the Pale Heart–The Landing, The Blooming, and The Impasse–and each location has three bosses, for a total of nine. Opening the gold chest here is actually a part of the larger quest to unlock the new Exotic, Khvostov 7G-0x. Check out our full Khvostov guide for everything you need to know.
In the meantime, you can unlock a Triumph, and each of the Visions you collected should have rewarded you with a Mote of Light (which we also don’t quite know how to use yet), Pale Heart engrams, and a bunch of reputation gains with Ghost.
You also get the opportunity to purchase a new Bungie reward for your efforts.
