Almost 25% Of All Console And PC Gamers Played Minecraft Last Month In The US

Over a decade old, Minecraft is still so hot right now. In fact, almost one in four PC and console gamers in the US reportedly played the sandbox game in September, showcasing the title’s enduring popularity.

Circana executive director Mat Piscatella posted on X/Twitter that last month “22% of ALL (!!) US console and PC video game players played Minecraft at least once.” Probably unsurprising, but no other game seems to come close to hitting that percentage–even including Roblox and Fortnite.

Now Playing: The Secrets of Minecraft Villagers

This comes just days after it was revealed Minecraft has sold over 300 million copies at Minecraft Live 2023. Minecraft sits at No. 2 on the top 10 list of best-selling games of all time, with only Tetris (including pack-ins) above it. What’s also impressive is that as of 2021, the sandbox game had totaled 238 million units in sales. So in the past two years, the game has been purchased over 60 million times.

That wasn’t the only big announcement at the event, either. New Star Wars and Planet Earth DLC are on the way for the sandbox game, along with developer Mojang teasing 15th anniversary plans for next year. Recently, Minecraft received DLC that allows players to have NERF battles.
