Ana de Armas, known for her roles in Knives Out and No Time To Die, might be the star of a new John Wick spinoff called Ballerina. Variety and Deadline report that de Armas is “in talks” to play the lead role, though no deal has been signed at this point so anything could happen.
Ballerina follows the story of a young female assassin out for revenge. Underworld director Len Wiseman is directing it from a script by John Wick 3 writer Shay Hatten.
de Armas is well-versed in action, as anyone who has seen No Time To Die can attest. She played a CIA agent who worked with Bond in a high-stakes mission with lots of fighting.
Deadline reported that the budget for Ballerina would be in the $50-$80 million range. The site went on to say that “there is hope” that Keanu Reeves and Anjelica Huston would appear in cameos.
In other news, John Wick 4 is scheduled for release in May 2022, while an event series for TV called The Continental and starring Mel Gibson is on the way as well.
