Today, Respawn Entertainment revealed that Apex Legends is getting a new weapon when Season 16: Revelry goes live next week. Confirming information included in both last week’s leaks and the infamous March 2022 leak, Season 16 will see the introduction of the Nemesis, an assault rifle that packs a serious punch.
The Nemesis is a burst-fire weapon, much like the Hemlok. But what really gives the Nemesis an edge in combat is the speed of each burst, which increases as the gun heats up from use. But instead of just overheating like the L-STAR, the Nemesis’ design encourages players to push the weapon to the limit via aggressive pushes through enemy territory.
The Nemesis has similarities to both the Hemlok and the L-STAR, but could potentially out-gun both of them given the extra perks it provides when overheating. Being an energy weapon, it can only make use of energy ammo and energy ammo magazines. But the new AR can also make use of the following attachments:

The Nemesis AR marks the first new weapon to appear in the game since Season 11’s CAR SMG appeared on the scene. In previews, Respawn said their goal with the Nemesis was to upset the R-301 and Flatline meta, as well as provide a new alternative for fans of the Hemlok and other burst-fire weapons. As seen in today’s Revelry launch trailer, the Nemesis fully lives up to its name, as anyone who finds themself caught on the business end of this thing has truly met their match. Unfortunately for your enemies, they’ll all be deathboxes before they even get a chance to start holding a grudge.
Apex Legends is free to play on console and PC. A mobile version of the game, Apex Legends Mobile, is available to play on Android and iOS devices, but will be sunset on May 1, 2023.
