Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom has started production. Star Jason Momoa confirmed on Instagram that he start shoots the DC sequel today, July 19.
In a short video, Momoa states that he is now in the UK, where the movie will be filmed. After commenting on the great weather, he reveals that he’ll have blonde hair in the film. “This is the last day of the brown,” he says. “I’m gonna be a blonde. Supposedly [they] have more fun. I don’t know about that. We’ll test it out.” Check the video out below:
Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is directed by James Wan, who helmed 2019’s first Aquaman, as well as hits such as Fast 7, The Conjuring, and the original Saw. Many of the main cast from the first film are returning too, including Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry. It hits theaters on December 16, 2022.
There’s also an animated Aquaman show, titled Aquaman: King of Atlantis, heading to HBO Max. The series doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but the first artwork was revealed back in February. One Aquaman-related project we won’t be getting however is the spin-off movie The Trench, which isn’t moving past the development stage.
