The Baldur’s Gate 3 Hirelings are akin to generic party members or mercenaries. While they don’t offer as much flavor or interaction as unique companions, their abilities can be used to fill in the gaps in your squad. Our guide discusses how you can recruit Hirelings in your group.
How to Recruit Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Baldur’s Gate 3 Hirelings feature can be unlocked after you meet Withers in the Dank Crypt. This undead entity is in the innermost recesses of the mini-dungeon, past a couple of rooms with traps and bandits. Once you open his sarcophagus, he’ll emerge and you can talk to him. Afterward, he’ll head to your Camp, and he’ll be a permanent resident there.
Back in your Camp, you can ask Withers about Hirelings. You can recruit from a limited selection pool of premade NPCs, and each one costs 100 gold. You do need to have an available slot in your party so that a Hireling can join. You may also speak to Withers, or to the Hireling in question, if you need to dismiss them.
