Baldur’s Gate 3 is still slated to arrive on Xbox Series X|S before the end of the year, according to developer Larian Studios.
In a post on the website formerly known as Twitter, Larian CEO Swen Vincke said the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently being playtested and is “still on schedule for this year.” However, the studio is waiting to give an exact release date “when we’re sure it’s done.”

Now Playing: Baldur's Gate 3 Video Review
Vincke previously said Baldur’s Gate 3 would arrive on Xbox sometime between September and November and that the studio was working to bring the game to Xbox “as fast as we can.”
Larian’s RPG released on PC (after years of early access) and PlayStation 5 earlier this year, but didn’t release on Xbox due to the studio being unable to get the game’s split-screen co-op working to their satisfaction on Xbox Series S consoles. While traditionally games that run on the Xbox Series X have the same core features when running on Series S as well, it seems Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer made an exception in Larian’s case in order to make sure Baldur’s Gate 3 would release on Xbox. As a result, the Series S version of the game won’t support split-screen co-op, at least at launch. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Series S split-screen co-op support could be added in the future.
The Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will include all the improvements and updates that have come to the PC and PS5 versions so far, while only the Series X version will support split-screen co-op. Both the Xbox Series X|S will support cross-save between Xbox consoles and on PC via Steam.
Recent updates to Baldur’s Gate 3 have addressed bugs and performance issues, expanded story moments for certain companions, and added the ability to tweak the appearance of player characters and hirelings.
In GameSpot’s Baldur’s Gate 3 review, we praised Larian’s RPG for its fantastic characters, co-op mode, and its “unparalleled level of freedom” that “allows players to be the authors of their own destinies in a way no other game has before.”
