As part of Summer Game Fest, it was announced that Black Myth: Wukong has been delayed–but only on one platform. The game remains on track to release on August 20 for PC and PS5, but Xbox fans have to wait a while longer. In a FAQ, developer Game Science said the Xbox Series X|S edition of the game does not currently meet its quality standards, so the team is spending more time optimizing. “We apologize for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date as soon as it meets our quality standards,” the company explained.
Additionally, Game Science confirmed that Black Myth’s physical editions will not include a disc. “It is the first time for Game Science to release a console game globally, and we are currently facing limitations in offline resources required for the import, export, transportation, distribution, and sales of physical discs,” the studio said. “These factors have made it difficult for us to sell physical discs simultaneously with the official release of the game.”
The company said its publishing unit is “actively working” to resolve the issue to explore the possibility of offering a physical disc.
A new trailer for the game debuted during Summer Game Fest celebrating the fact that preorders are now available–check it out below.
Black Myth: Wukong is a Dark Souls-inspired action game based on Journey to the West and Chinese mythology. Players will battle massive, mythological creatures throughout a fantasy version of ancient China.
