Black Myth: Wukong Releases August 2024, New Trailer Debuts At The Game Awards

Black Myth: Wukong, the Dark Souls-inspired action game based on Journey to the West and Chinese mythology, is releasing on August 20, 2024. Developed by Chinese studio Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong will have you battle massive, mythological creatures throughout a fantasy version of ancient China.

The new trailer is packed with looks at the many giant mythological monsters you will battle. A few standouts include a giant bear wielding flaming fists, a massive spider, and large white dragon. There are also a few other creatures in the trailer that appear friendly, like a gargantuan sea turtle with a small island on its back. The trailer also includes a couple short moments of combat, which looks incredibly fast and fluid.

The trailer comes not long after an explosive report alleging rampant sexism at Game Science, which has yet to address the claims.

Black Myth: Wukong releases on August 20, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. For more on The Game Awards, check out GameSpot’s round-ups of every game announcement and every award winner.
