Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Has Already Made $45 Million In Advance Ticket Sales

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens in theaters this weekend, and it’s expected to be a massive success at the box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie has earned an estimated $45 million in advance box office ticket sales in the US alone, which is a strong start.

Wakanda Forever opened November 9 in some international theaters before it releases everywhere else on November 11 (it’s not coming to China or Russia, however). Box office estimates suggest the movie will earn at least $175 million in the US alone for its opening weekend, with some believing it could stretch as high as $200 million. For comparison, the original Black Panther from 2018 made $202 million in the US for its opening weekend.

Internationally, the movie is projected to bring in up to $195 million for its first weekend. If Wakanda Forever can reach the top end of its first-weekend box office projections domestically and internationally, it could star with nearly $400 million for its first weekend globally.

By Friday, advance ticket sales for Wakanda Forever might stretch to as high as $65 million, THR said, and that would be above the original Black Panther’s $55 million in advance ticket sales in the US.

The original Black Panther went on to earn $700 million in the US and $647 million from international markets for a total of $1.348 billion globally.

Ryan Coogler returns to direct Wakanda Forever. The film originally had a different script but it was altered after the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Neither the film’s cast nor Marvel Studios brass were willing to consider recasting the character of T’Challa.

Wakanda Forever stars Angela Bassett, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke. Coogler directed the film and co-wrote it with Joe Robert Cole. The film debuts on November 11.
