Now Playing: Blizzard Arcade Collection Reveal Trailer | BlizzCon 2021

According to Blizzard, each of the three games in the Arcade Collection comes in its original form as well as an additional “definitive” edition that features modern touch-ups. These upgrades vary by title; the definitive edition of Rock N Roll Racing, for instance, adds environmental effects and supports up to four players, while the definitive edition of Blackthorne features an additional area.

On top of that, all of the games boast a handful of modern conveniences, including save states, the ability to rewind gameplay, and filters. You can check out the reveal trailer for the Blizzard Arcade Collection above.

On PC, the Blizzard Arcade Collection will be included in the company’s Celebration Collection item bundles. Those who have already purchased one of the bundles will automatically receive the Arcade Collection at no additional cost. The Celebration Collections also give you access to items for a number of Blizzard’s other games, including World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Hearthstone.

There were a lot of other announcements during the BlizzConline opening ceremony. You can check out all of the biggest news in our BlizzCon announcements roundup, as well as the full schedule of this weekend’s panels.

Blizzard Arcade Collection Allegedly Rated Ahead Of BlizzCon Online

Ahead of BlizzConline later today, it seems a three-pack of classic Blizzard games called the Blizzard Arcade Collection was rated on a European ratings board. [Update: BlizzCon has brought confirmation of the Blizzard Arcade Collection.]

The Blizzard Arcade Collection seemingly contains The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne, and Rock N’ Roll Racing. Japanese gaming publication Gematsu reported the rating, but searching for the Blizzard Arcade Collection on the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) site pulls nothing. It’s unclear whether Blizzard Entertainment had plans to reveal the collection during BlizzCon.

Now Playing: Blizzcon 2021 Opening Ceremony and Day 1 Panels Livestream

BlizzCon’s full schedule has already been revealed and there’s no mention of the Blizzard Arcade Collection, though it could be a surprise announcement during the digital event.

The three games in the Blizzard Arcade Collection are old titles in the company’s back catalog. The Lost Vikings, a puzzle platformer, was originally released in 1993 for retro consoles like the Amiga and NES before making its way to Battle.net as a free download in 2014. Both the cinematic platformer Blackthorne and the vehicular-combat racer Rock N’ Roll Racing followed a similar trajectory becoming free downloads on Battle.net in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

This isn’t the only piece of information to have leaked before BlizzCon Online starts. Details about upcoming World of Warcraft content, such as the re-release of The Burning Crusade expansion and Shadowlands’ upcoming Chains of Domination update, were revealed allegedly by accident. It was reported that Blizzard Entertainment published those press releases early.

BlizzConline this year will provide some updates on important projects coming from Blizzard. This includes a “sneak peek” at something Overwatch 2-related, potential details about the big Diablo games (Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal), and more Hearthstone content.
