Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Won't Have Campaign Early Access, Activision Confirms

Black Ops 6 will not have an early-access period for its narrative campaign mode, unlike prior Call of Duty titles, Activision has confirmed. The game’s campaign, multiplayer mode, and Zombies will all launch simultaneously on October 25 for “one massive global launch moment.”

Previous Call of Duty titles, including both Modern Warfare 2 and 3, allowed players who preordered to get early access to the games’ campaigns for up to a week. The early-access period has been popular with serious players, who smash through the narrative content in order to focus on multiplayer when it unlocks on global launch day.

This time, according to a statement sent by Activision to COD news source CharlieIntel, the plan is for all of the game’s modes to have a simultaneous launch. “The team is fully focused on October 25th,” the statement reads. “We are excited about all the game has to offer across campaign, multiplayer and Zombies. This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25. As such, there is no early-access beat this year for Black Ops 6: just the countdown to launch.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just finished up its multiplayer open beta, giving players their first look at the next mainline COD game, including its reworked action-hero movement system. Now fans will have to wait for the global release date to get their hands on Black Ops 6 again.

Now that Activision is owned by Microsoft, Black Ops 6 will release on Game Pass on day one–though only for certain Game Pass tiers.
