Activision has officially announced that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will launch on March 21. Despite the name, the game features both battle royale and traditional multiplayer. The game also features shared progression across Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Warzone.
Warzone Mobile will be available across iOS and Android, with Verdansk and Rebirth Island available at launch with support for 120 players in a match on Verdansk and 48 on Rebirth Island. For multiplayer, there will be fan-favorite maps like Shipment, Shoot House, and Scrapyard. Some of the available modes include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Search & Destroy, including Hardcore versions of these as well.
There is, of course, already a popular Call of Duty game for mobile, Call of Duty Mobile. Documents that came to light as part of Microsoft’s regulatory bid to buy Activision Blizzard revealed that Call of Duty Mobile is expected to be phased out when Warzone Mobile launches. GameSpot has contacted Activision to get additional clarification around this.
Warzone Mobile has been available for some time already through a limited-release early access program, so you might have already seen some footage. Activision said it has used the early access period to gather feedback, fix bugs, and optimize, with the aim of having the game run as smoothly as possible upon launch.
Time will tell if that happens, but Activision said it’s already released dozens of significant updates during the early testing and fixed “thousands” of bugs.
Everyone who preregisters (50 million have already done so, Activision said) will get these rewards when the game releases on March 21:
The Ghost “Condemned” Operator SkinThe M4 “Archfiend” and X12 “Prince of Hell” Weapon BlueprintsThe “Foes Flame” VinylThe “Dark Familiar” Emblem
Regarding shared progression, this means players can level up in any of the three games–Warzone Mobile, Modern Warfare III, or Warzone–and see their level, unlocks, and battle-pass progression shared across all three games. Players need to log in using their Activision ID for this. Any store bundles players might have purchased in Warzone or Modern Warfare III will be available in Warzone Mobile, except for a “small number” of bundles.
Warzone Mobile is developed by Solid State Studios, Digital Legends, Beenox, and Activision Shanghai. The entire Call of Duty series is now owned by Microsoft following its acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023.
