Cat Quest has been one of gaming’s hidden gems, and with a threequel out this week, now is a great time to experience a paw-some action-RPG series. The Cat Quest games aren’t genre-defining RPGs, but they are cozy little adventures with gorgeous 2.5D graphics that feel like the video game equivalent of comfort food. There’s nothing wrong with a by-the-numbers adventure, especially when it has some cathartic grinding and a lot of puns revolving around cats and dogs. This little collection includes 2017’s Cat Quest, the 2019 sequel Cat Quest 2, and the newly released Cat Quest 3.
The first two games received paw-sitive reviews, and on GameSpot’s sister-site Metacritic, Cat Quest 3 currently has a “generally favorable” Metascore of 81 from 12 reviews. It’s not rocking the boat, but when you’re looking for a game that’s easy to dive into, the Cat Quest series is up for the job.
