Now Playing: Modern Warfare III – Official Zombies Reveal Cinematic Trailer
With Operation Deadbolt, Task Force 141 must stop Viktor Zakhaev, an antagonist from Modern Warfare 2019, who has created a Zombies outbreak using a vial of Aetherium. This Zombie-creating substance is much like the Dark Aether crystals from the previous storyline, but it’s now been processed into an even deadlier form, and Task Force 141 must uncover Zakhaev’s full plans for the outbreak and Aetherium.
Modern Warfare’s Kate Laswell is leading the operation alongside Johnny “Soap” MacTavish, and they’ve brought in Zombies specialist Captain Sergei Ravenov, who is the Spetsnaz operative aligned with Requiem in the fight against Omega Group in Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies storyline.
Activision’s blog post says this iteration of Zombies includes both living and undead enemies, with the threat from the living being Terminus Outcomes, a private military company hired by Zakhaev as muscle.
As previously announced, this won’t be traditional round-based Zombies, but instead an open-world experience with survival elements and PvE extraction. Much like Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak, Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies includes incursion zones across different regions that escalate in difficulty, but Activision says the mode still includes core Zombies features, special story missions, and secrets to discover.
Zombies will arrive with the launch of Modern Warfare 3 on November 10. More information on multiplayer and Warzone will arrive during Call of Duty: Next on October 5, but for now, make sure to check out all the details already announced for Modern Warfare 3.
