Arriving this October, Magic The Gathering is incorporating elements, characters, and lore from Warhammer 40,000 into a new Universes Beyond set. GameSpot has a look at one of the cards–Biotransference.
Four Commander decks are arriving on October 7, and this includes Necron Dynasties, a black deck that focuses on reusing graveyard resources. Now, you can take a look at one of the enchantments from the upcoming deck, which is called Biotransference.
Costing two black and two colorless mana, this enchantment makes creatures you control artifacts–in addition to their other types. This is also the same for creature spells you control and creature cards you own that aren’t on the battlefield.
Additionally, when an artifact spell is cast by you, you create a 2/2 black Necron Warrior artifact creature token and lose 1 life.
Card artwork for Biotransference is by Anthony Devine.
Additionally, the face card for the Commander Deck is Szarekh, the Silent King, who you can learn more about here. There will be four Commander Decks for the upcoming Universes Beyond release. There will also be Collector’s Editions of each set, which you can preorder at Wizards of the Coast.
Magic The Gathering is digging deeper into other realms, and it’s been in the works for quite some time. Outside of Warhammer 40,000, imagery and cards were revealed for various sets that are incorporating Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who, which will all arrive in the upcoming year.
Outside of the October 7 reveal of the Warhammer set, there is a lot coming down the pipeline for Magic. Between Fall 2022 and Winter 2024, there are six storyline sets coming out–and if Phyrexia rings a bell to you, then you know Magic is diving back into the world of biomechanical warfare.
