Chris Hemsworth has said he’s eager to continue playing Thor for as long as Disney/Marvel wants him to, but he also acknowledged that the enthusiasm for him to keep playing the God of Thunder is waning.
“As long as they’ll have me I’ll turn up, but I feel like there might be… waning kind of enthusiasm for me to keep playing the character,” he said on Australia’s The Today Show recently (via GamesRadar). The hosts quickly jumped in to say that is not the case and that fans would love to see him continue to play Thor.
Hemsworth was asked about his future as Thor after one of the hosts mentioned how Tom Holland is potentially gearing up to play Spider-Man in three further films in the future. No deal has been made for that to happen, though. Hemsworth said Holland is behind him in terms of total appearances, with Holland playing Spider-Man in three standalone films thus far and Hemsworth having more under his belt.
Hemsworth will play Thor again in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, which brings back Taika Waititi as the director. Hemsworth is currently in Prague filming Extraction 2 for Netflix.
In other comic book movie news, Spider-Man: No Way Home releases on December 17, while a third Venom movie is on the way. Additionally, James Cameron has spoken about the Spider-Man movie he never got to make.
