Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III launches on November 10, and there will be plenty of content to come to the game after launch. In terms of what to expect in Season 1, Activision says there will be new maps and modes, as well as more Zombies content and a holiday-themed event.
Season 1 also marks the introduction of the new Warzone map, Urzikstan, so Season 1 sounds like a large update. For multiplayer specifically, players can expect three all-new 6v6 maps and the introduction of the Gunfight and All or Nothing modes, among others.
Modern Warfare III’s core multiplayer mode is launching with 16 maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare II that have been updated for the new game. The game also brings back the War Mode not seen since 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII.
Activision isn’t talking about what the holiday event and related modes will be, but given that the company used the Christmas tree emoji, you can expect it to be themed around the holidays. Call of Duty’s latest event, the Halloween-themed Haunting event, recently came to a close.
Season 1 for Modern Warfare III and Warzone will debut at some point in December. For now, Modern Warfare III will launch into a “pre-season.”
Modern Warfare III is a direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare II. The campaign has been playable since November, and the critical consensus is that it’s not a very strong offering this year. It remains to be seen what critics think of the multiplayer, but keep checking back with GameSpot for more.
