Crash 4 On Nintendo Switch Is 1080p/30fps In Docked Mode And 720p/30fps On Handheld

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is coming to Nintendo Switch in March. The game’s developer has spoken specifically about the Nintendo version and what players can expect in terms of resolution and frame rate, and more.

Toys for Bob creative producer Lou Studdert told Nintendo Life that the game will be 1080p/30fps when docked and 720p/30fps on handheld.

Studdert said it was a “big undertaking” to bring Crash 4 to Switch and make it perform similar to how it does on the other platforms.

“It’s the same challenge as bringing it to any console, honestly,” Studdert said. “There’s just so much content in the game. There are so many levels, there are so many different ways of playing, there’s all these different things to make sure work. So for our engineers, our artists, our QA team, just making sure that it’s a seamless transition, and it performs as well as it did on the consoles we originally launched with. It’s a big undertaking.”

Crash 4 launches on Nintendo Switch, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, on March 12. The Switch edition costs $40 USD, while the PS5/Xbox Series X|S version is priced at $60 USD, though people who bought it on PS4/Xbox One can upgrade for free. Crash 4 is also coming to PC through Battle.net, but it has no release date.

“Even more so than playing the N.Sane Trilogy, which literally remade the original Crash games from my youth, playing Crash 4 felt like getting back in touch with the series,” Mike Epstein wrote in GameSpot’s Crash 4 review. “It’s an injection of new ideas into now-classic gameplay that surprises and delights, even as it feels like a homecoming. Truly, games like this are why we come running back to long-dormant franchises with open arms.”
