How To Make Money Fast In Cyberpunk 2077

Especially in the early part of Cyberpunk 2077, you might find yourself hard-up for cash. Everything in Night City costs money, after all, and you’re going to start the game bereft of good guns, cool clothes, or useful cyberware enhancements. That changes once you start taking on mercenary work and earning Eurodollars (also known as “eddies”), but the process of completing missions for payouts can be time-consuming. If you want to amp up your character fast, you’re going to need fast cash.

We’ve been spending a lot of time in Night City and found a bunch of ways to make a quick buck. Check out these tips on earning money, especially early in the game–they’ll help you advance the story at some key moments (the mission Ghost Town in Act 2 will require a cash infusion of 15,000 eddies, so get ready), and allow you to buy the equipment you need to avoid flatlining as you fight to survive in 2077. While you’re at it, read our Cyberpunk 2077 review and check out our 13 Essential Cyberpunk 2077 Tips, a guide on which life path is right for you, an explanation of how romances work and who you can get with, and a rundown of where to find Iconic weapons and how they work.

Now Playing: How To Make Money In Cyberpunk 2077

Loot Everything

The first one is standard open-world fare: Loot everything, from filing cabinets to corpses. Most of the stuff you will undoubtedly find is labeled as “Junk.” Junk can be broken down into crafting components or sold to vendors with the touch of button. However, you’ll want to balance your junk-collecting with your overall encumbrance and the value of said junk. When you look at a piece of junk on the ground, a window will pop up that will show you the weight and value. Typically, it’s best to ignore things under 10 eddies because they’re probably not worth the hassle–but hey, one V’s trash is another V’s treasure. Also, as you’re looting enemies and boxes, keep an eye out for junk jewelry that’s actually worth a lot. You’ll find some broaches, necklaces, and bracelets that you can sell for 750 eddies a pop.

Sell Clothes And Weapons

Way better than most junk are the guns and clothes you’ll find on just about every enemy you fight. If any enemy drops a rare weapon that you have no use for, sell it. We’ve ripped valuable assault rifles from the cold, dead hands of enemies just to flip them at a nearby gun store. Do we feel bad? Maybe, but some of the guns we’ve found are worth well over 1000 eddies. Especially in the early part of the game, the best way to get money is to sell all the guns you take off the enemies you have to fight. Just be careful not to overload V until they can’t move.

Hack The Planet

The next thing you should keep an eye out for as you explore are hackable computers. If you’re a savvy Netrunner, you can hack into access points and terminals with your personal link and transfer funds directly into your account. The more skillful your hacking, the more money you’ll make from every transfer. There are also some passive perks tied to this action in the Intelligence tree that can make hacking easier and net you even more cash. One in particular worth grabbing early is the Advanced Datamine perk, which lets you transfer even more money after a successful hack.

Take On Some Gigs

As you explore Night City and get acquainted with the various Fixers in each district, you’ll get hired for small gigs. Most of these gigs are pretty straightforward, asking you to off a few gang members, steal a laptop, or incapacitate or kill a wanted criminal. These jobs usually only last a few minutes and will earn you a good bit of cash for your trouble.

It’s worth noting that money isn’t a guaranteed reward for each and every quest. Sometimes it’s a rare, iconic weapon, and other times it’s the satisfaction of helping out a friend in need. If you are getting paid for your work, the quest giver will usually let you know up front.

Complete car missions

One early side quest that’s great for lining your pockets is called Epistrophy. At the beginning of Act 2, after you complete some main story quests, investigate the Side Job called Human Nature. You’ll work with the AI taxi service Delamain and eventually get asked to track down specific missing cars all over the city. You get paid for completing each step of this multi-stage quest, and you’ll often find the cabs near other story missions you’re working on, which makes them pretty convenient as well as lucrative.

Following the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty launch, you can now also complete carjacking missions for El Capitan. Marked as green steering wheels on your map, each stolen vehicle mission will randomly generate a bonus objective a short time after you enter the vehicle: Deliver the car within a time limit, evade hostile attackers, or deliver the car in “good condition.”

Delivering each vehicle while completing the optional objective rewards you with a treasure trove of loot, including Eurodollars, crafting components, weapons, and even an exclusive car shopping coupon, which can be stacked with others if you so choose, then eventually spent on a single purchase at a huge discount.
