A sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in development at CD Projekt Red’s studios in North America, and chief creative officer Adam Badowski has now provided an update on how the game is coming together.
Speaking at the CD Projekt Red Investor Day event, Badowski said the game remains in the “conceptual design level,” according to VGC. He said the game will be made by a “team of veterans” who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty.

CD Projekt Red’s Vancouver and Boston teams will lead development on the next Cyberpunk game. Some people at CD Projekt Red’s home base in Poland will contribute to the game’s development as well, Badowski said.
Cyberpunk 2077 did not have a great start upon release in 2020, with technical issues and other problems marring the launch. But CD Projekt Red supported the game with numerous patches and improvements over the years, and it’s in a much better state these days.
As for the sequel, nothing is known about its story or anything else. CD Projekt has not provided any release window, either, but it won’t come out soon given it’s still in the “conceptual” phase of development.
The Phantom Liberty expansion launched at the end of September and sold 3 million copies during its first week. The base game has sold more than 25 million copies.
