CD Projekt Red also announced that 360 people from CD Projekt Red itself worked on the Phantom Liberty expansion. In total, 3,600 people were “engaged” in the project, though the company did not say if this is the total number of people working on the game at once or if it was over the course of the expansion’s development over the years.
Additionally, it was confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 has now sold more than 25 million copies. Whether or not this figure includes returns that people got following the game’s problematic launch in 2020 is unknown. The game sold 13.7 million copies–the majority of lifetime sales–in its first three weeks back in 2020.
Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077’s one and only expansion. It brings back Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand and introduces a character named Solomon Reed, who is played by Idris Elba. The expansion did not come to PS4 and Xbox One. For more, check out GameSpot’s 10/10 review of Phantom Liberty.
CD Projekt Red is now developing a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and is making a live-action project with Anonymous Content.
