Deadpool And Wolverine First Reactions Praise Marvel's Return To Form

Earlier this week, Deadpool and Wolverine was finally screened for critics across the country, and now the first reactions have come online via social media. Marvel movies, and comic book films in general, tend to be well-received in early screenings by fans of the genre… unless of course the projects in question are spectacularly misfires. Fortunately, the vast majority of the responses to Deadpool and Wolverine are effusive with praise for the film. Even The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon couldn’t resist weighing in on it. [Update: Full reviews are now available, and a number of them are notably less positive. Current X-Men comic book writer Gail Simone also shared her opinion of the film.

A common refrain among the critics is that the film is a tribute to the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies that came before it. The cameos were also mentioned frequently as one of the best parts of the film. But most importantly, almost everyone said that Deadpool and Wolverine is very funny.

Max Evry was one of the few who wasn’t fully effusive towards the sequel, which he called “the weakest of the trilogy.” But even he says “I laughed my ass off throughout.”

Fans will get their own chance to judge the movie soon enough. Deadpool and Wolverine will hit theaters on Friday, July 26. And since Comic-Con is also happening this week, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, director Shawn Levy, and Marvel’s Kevin Feige will all be in San Diego for a Deadpool and Wolverine Hall H panel on Thursday, July 25.
