According to the official PlayStation Blog post, Deathverse is set hundreds of years after the first Let It Die game, taking place in a virtual would called the Deathverse. It is created by a company called Yotsuyama Group and is the “final destination for people’s souls.”
“The lucrative cash prizes and thrilling survival gameplay have attracted a fanatical viewing audience, making the program a worldwide phenomenon,” Supertrick Games producer Shuji Ishikawa said in the blog post. “Players will take part in the show as ordinary contestants who have appeared on the show to crush their rivals.” Contestants fight with “Wilson” units, robotic assistants that transform into different weapons and activate skills.
Deathverse: Let It Die is set for a Spring 2022 release. The original Let It Die, originally released in 2016, is a persistent online multiplayer action game where players try to climb a tower while fighting the horrors within. The game recently celebrated 7 million downloads since launch, according to the official website.
