A major update has debuted in Destiny 2, officially launching The Witch Queen DLC expansion and the next season of content, Season of the Risen. There’s a wealth of new things to dive into–Exotics to collect, a whole campaign to check out, matchmaking activities, crafting, and a ton more. Below, you’ll find a look at what to expect from the season pass, including the new Exotic weapon you can get for free right out of the gate, as well as the new armor that Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks can get from it. We’ve also rounded up all of our guides, covering Exotic weapons, faction chests, new activities, and more. We’ve got plenty more to come, so keep this page bookmarked to stay on top of everything. Power leveling
Destiny 2 has seen its power caps increased once again, which means you’ll need to work your way up by obtaining gear through any activities and (later) through specific ones that offer Powerful and Pinnacle rewards. We’ve rounded up details on all of this and some tips on how to reach Power level 1560 quickly.
Osteo Striga
A new Exotic SMG, Osteo Striga, is included as part of The Witch Queen, but it’s not a gun you’ll just have handed to you. Instead, you’ll need to work through the campaign to get your hands on it and the associated catalyst.
Grand Overture
An Exotic gun you do get pretty much right way is Grand Overture. This is a machine gun that fires missiles, which is as entertaining as it sounds. We’ve got a guide on how it works and how to get the Grand Overture catalyst.
Dead Messenger
But back on the side of Exotics you’ll have to work for is Dead Messenger, a grenade launcher. This requires access to Season of the Risen, but assuming you have the season pass, you can take part in a questline to get Dead Messenger.
Weapon crafting at the Relic
A major new system in Witch Queen is weapon crafting, which is done at the Relic on Mars. While the game does teach you the basics, you might be wondering more about how it all works, where to get the necessary materials, and so on. Be sure to check out our Destiny 2 weapon crafting guide for all the details.
Wellspring
Wellspring is a new six-person matchmade activity in The Witch Queen, but like a lot else, you won’t get access to it right away. Here’s how to unlock Wellspring and how it works–at least based on the first few days of playing it, as it appears there will be elements of it that rotate over time.
Lost Sectors
With a new location, the Throne World, come new Lost Sectors. The Throne World is reminiscent of the Dreadnaught in terms of its secretive layout, so you may have a bit of troubling tracking the entrances for these down or completing them. We’ve put together a Lost Sector guide for Metamorphosis, Sepulcher, Extraction, all three Lost Sectors you’ll find in the new area.
The Witness
If you’ve already made your way through the new campaign and are a little confused, no worries: We have a Witch Queen story explainer that covers The Witness, Savathun’s plans, and what it all means.
Other guides
There’s a lot of small details and complexities in The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen, and we’re working to ensure you know how it all works. Check out the additional guides below for more details.

Seasonal challenges
Season of the Risen will task you with completing a number of objectives every week, which are usually worth pursuing as they offer various rewards and substantial experience points. You can chase down these objectives at your own leisure, and there are normally ten weeks of unique objectives to accomplish throughout a given season. Complete all of them, and you’ll be rewarded with a pile of Bright Dust that can be used to purchase some fancy cosmetic gear from the Eververse shop. For a look at all of the ones released so far, check out the Season of the Risen seasonal challenges guide.
Season pass unlocks
Seasonal armor can be earned from both the free and premium tiers of the season pass, but the best versions of the new gear and weapons will be found in the paid-for season pass. Expect higher ratings, quicker unlocks for Exotic weapons, an ornament to change up its appearance, and more resources with that version of the season pass. If you’re interested in what Destiny 2 has to offer in the Season of the Risen, you can read the list below that highlights the best gear to earn and see what the new armor sets will look like.
