Now Playing: Monster Hunter Movie – Exclusive “From The Game To The Big Screen” Feature

“I got into Monster Hunter 11 years ago,” explains Anderson in the video. “I played it in Japan. I fell in love with the creatures, the beautiful landscapes, the themes of the game. So I optioned it from Capcom.”

Monster Hunter star and wife of Anderson, Milla Jovovich said that Anderson has been obsessed with the game, and this is the longest he has ever worked on a project during his career in Hollywood. “I’m kinda glad that it took that long because the game has evolved,” Anderson said. “It’s become a worldwide phenomenon.”

The home release does include a few deleted scenes and special featurettes for the home release, and you can check them all out below.

Originally released on Christmas in theaters, Monster Hunter received mixed reviews. In GameSpot’s review of Monster Hunter, Eric Frederiksen said, “The parts that work, work really well. The same way that 2014’s Godzilla excelled when Godzilla was on the screen, Monster Hunter is a blast when Artemis and the Hunter are fighting the authentically realized monsters. But the movie seems more interested in seeing giant monsters destroying helicopters and Humvees than in exploring its actual interesting setting.”

Monster Hunter is available digitally now at various online retailers and will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 2.
