Disney has announced the release dates for a number of its upcoming films, including the next Star Wars movie. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released on May 22, 2026, Disney announced (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the 2026 date during an earnings call this year, but this is the first time it’s officially on the release calendar and with a specific date.
Jon Favreau, who helped create the Mandalorian TV series, is directing the movie. Pedro Pascal is coming back to play the lead character. This will be the first new theatrical Star Wars film since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
Disney also announced that the live-action remake of Moana starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been delayed by a year and is now coming July 10, 2026. Moana fans don’t have to wait that long for the next movie, however, as the animated Moana 2 arrives this November.
Additionally, Disney announced that Toy Story 5 is coming on June 19, 2026. It’s the first entry in the main series since 2019’s Toy Story 4, which made more than $1 billion worldwide. The spin-off Lightyear was released in 2022 and made $226 million worldwide at the box office.
The next Tron movie, Tron: Ares, is coming October 10, 2025. Starring Jared Leto, it’s the first new Tron film since 2010’s Tron: Legacy. Finally, the Rami Malek and Rachel Brosnahan drama The Amateur has been delayed from November 8, 2024 to April 11, 2025.
In other Disney news, the company is moving ahead with its $60 billion expansion plan that will see Disney break ground on new attractions at Disney World’s iconic Magic Kingdom theme park.
