Doom and Doom II are getting some massive updates in time for QuakeCon this weekend. Both games are being combined into one listing, and will be getting some new online features.
Over on the Steam page, Doom and Doom II are now bundled into one definitive and newly enhanced package. Those who purchase it will receive both games, TNT Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, Master Levels for Doom II, No Rest for the Living, and Sigil. The update also brings Legacy of Rust, a new episode created in collaboration between id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames.
There are also some new enhancements coming to the package, including online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op game modes for up to 16 players, and modern accessibility options, such as high-contrast mode and text-to-speech. There will be community-published mod support, along with BOOM source compatibility, which means that community-created mods from the past 25 years can be published in-game.
There are many additional improvements, so be sure to read up on all of them. QuakeCon 2024 takes place from August 8-12, and this bundle will likely be formally announced during the event.
As for the future of the Doom series, id Software is currently working on Doom: The Dark Ages, which is slated for release in 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
