The Dragon Quest series had a prominent showing at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct. The previously announced Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake’s release date was confirmed alongside confirmation that an HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 are on the way.

“Chronologically, Dragon Quest 3 comes first in the Erdrick trilogy. I think players will have fun seeing how things unfold if they play [Dragon Quest] 3, 1, and 2 in that order,” said Dragon Quest series creator and game designer Yuji Horii.

The previously announced Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake’s release date was confirmed alongside confirmation that an HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 is on the way. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake will be released on November 14, with Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake slated for release in 2025.
